The BC Coastal Soccer League Kicks off this weekend!
With summer almost over, the BC Coastal Soccer League (BCCSL) is ready to welcome almost 1400 teams back to the field for the 2018-19 season.
The off season work of the Board of Directors, Operations Committee, and BCCSL staff were key components to drive the league forward, and it’s been an exciting process to bring all 8 member districts together to form the largest youth league in the province. Utilizing the scheduling platform and software tools from GotSoccer, the BCCSL has positioned itself to create operational efficiencies to help support the game’s growth in the lower mainland. On the September 7-9 weekend, play begins for Metro and Division 1 and 2 teams. On the September 14-16 weekend, play begins for Division 3 teams.
Joe Basic, Chair of the BCCSL Board, commented “This is an exciting time for the sport in the lower mainland. We have simplified rules and processes that will make things easier for all those volunteers involved. I can’t thank the Operations Committee, led by Matt Holbrook, enough. This group has taken on a momentous task putting things together for over 20,000 kids and countless volunteers. This is only a start and we have lots of work in front of us to continue to change the game so our numbers increase”.
Jason Elligott, BC Soccer’s Executive Director, noted “Leagues the size of the BCCSL that support thousands of youth participating in soccer on a week in and week out basis is no small task. BC Soccer congratulations the eight youth district associations on the work they have done over the last 12 months to amalgamate league operations in the lower mainland. All the best to the teams and players that are starting up play in September 2018 and a big thank you to all the coaches for working with the players within their communities.”

About the BC Coastal Soccer League
The BC Coastal Soccer League (BCCSL) is a newly formed league that has amalgamated the former youth leagues that operated in the Lower Mainland. Those leagues were the BCCSL Boys, Metro/Select League (MSL) and BC Coastal Girls Soccer League (BCCGSL). It comprises approximately 21,000 youth and all 8 Lower Mainland districts.
The League provides, facilitates and supports playing environments for males and females in the Under 11 and 12 Divisions 1-2, and Under 13 to Under 18 age categories, consisting of Metro to Division 3. The League works closely with BC Soccer and the BCSPL to help develop the game and actively promote players while ensuring the ongoing integrity of each level of play.
